Amy and Lauren from the Another Way team had a fun day at Wigan Youth Climate Summit!
We were invited by the council to run a stall for 300 young people from primary and secondary schools around Wigan. We played games on topics around plastic pollution and biodiversity, helping young people to fish rubbish out of the Great Pacific Garbage Patch, throw foil into our recycling bin, and spot the camouflaged animal.
We talked to young people and teachers about our newly-launched Power of 10 app and how they can get involved, explaining how the resources can support them to start their own climate projects. One of the highlights of the day was the scouts helping us to make us our own sign for Power of 10 by burning letters into the wood with a little forge!
We really enjoyed meeting some of our national partners who were also at the event, such as the Let’s Go Zero team and the National Education Nature Park. We made lots of great connections and we can’t wait to follow up by going into schools around Wigan to run workshops!
