In mid-October, our founder Amy, digital marketing lead Olivia, and trustee Seth attended the multi-day Blue Earth Summit in London, which kindly provided us with free tickets as media partners.
We were able to listen to some fascinating panel discussions on climate communications, environmental philanthropy and the importance of corporate funding for the environment sector. We heard from Dale Vince and Bella Lack, among many others.
Deborah Meaden spoke of the importance of purpose-led businesses and holding the Labour government accountable for helping keep them alive, but indicated that things are moving in a positive direction.
Sebastian Vettel discussed the importance of using his career for good through harnessing the massive platform which popular sports provides, and how F1 can drive (no pun intended) climate action. He gave an example in that an area in one of the F1 circuits was rewilded and had a beehive set up, which on the face of it is a small-scale effort but really elevates the conversations around biodiversity to a global scale, engaging audiences who aren’t usually involved.
We interviewed youth activists for our social media channels, on their visions for the future they want to see, as well as their most controversial climate opinions… Check out our instagram page to see what they said!
It was great to meet some of our partners at Ocean Generation and the Blue Marine Foundation, as well as forging many new connections.
