Have you ever felt overwhelmed by where to start when it comes to making a positive impact on the planet?
We have broken it down into the five actions that have the biggest climate impact. Pick one or more to pledge and help our collective impact skyrocket!
1) Opt for greener travel options
Flying and private car use are some dirty culprits of climate change, but public transport and cycling have a fraction of the footprint, making them a great way to tread lightly on the earth.
2) Switch to a plant-based diet
Did you know that our food systems contribute 1/3 of global greenhouse gas emissions? Meat diets release high levels of carbon dioxide and methane, fuelling climate change. A plant-based diet, however, has 30% less impact on biodiversity loss, greenhouse gas emissions and water pollution.
3) Consume (buy) less
Around 4000 litres of water are needed to produce just one pair of jeans – that’s as much as you would drink in five years! Everything we buy has a carbon footprint, and who needs all these new clothes and gadgets anyway? Upcycling is fun!
4) Green your home energy
Heating is a big contributor to climate change, but switching to a renewable energy provider, insulating our houses and reducing our energy use can all make a big difference. Plus it can be kinda cool to say our homes are heated by the wind and sun!
5) Influence others
Did you know that having a conversation about climate change is one of the most impactful things you can do? There are loads of ways you can use your influence to inspire others to make a change, from posting on social media to voting, emailing your MP, joining a community group or simply making climate change conversations the norm.
