We are incredibly proud to say that Amy’s incredible work and dedication has been recognised by the Linnaean Society through their John Spedan Lewis Emerging Lead Award.
For anyone wondering, John Spedan Lewis (1885–1963 – and yes, that’s the same John Lewis who founded the department store – “was a keen naturalist who put into practice his belief that the natural world should be better understood, cared for, and enjoyed by as many as possible.” The award is given to people who embody the same commitment to protecting the UK’s biodiversity – and we think that with the Power of 10 community, her drive to introduce students to the magic of the natural world and her endless energy to speak on the importance of protecting the planet, this sums up Amy perfectly.
Speaking after the event, Amy said, “Receiving the John Spedan Lewis Emerging Lead Award from the Linnaean Society underneath portraits of Darwin and Linnaeus, historical ecological legends, alongside modern-day legends such as Chris Packham was a pretty special event.
As I said in my acceptance speech, ‘Young people have an innate empathy for nature, and they deserve the support, resources, tools and resilience and education to protect it. That’s what I founded Another Way to do, and I am so proud of every single young person we have worked with and the impact they have made. This award is for all of them, and the amazing team that unlock my work.'”
Massive congratulations, Amy, we’re lucky to work with you!
