WHAT A WASTE

Fully funded school & youth group workshops

If we use less today, we’ll have more tomorrow. This is the key message of our What a Waste workshop, which is designed to get students reflecting on the volume of stuff that we, as a society, consume…. as well as where it comes from, and where it goes. We’ll bring the massive topic of waste into your classroom through stories, solutions, science and hope.

BIG QUESTIONS
What is waste?
How do we dispose of waste?
Whose responsibility is it?
How does waste impact the environment?

WORKSHOP ACTIVITIES
Sort the waste game: are you a recycling whizz or will you be befuddled by the bins?
Mission Design a Menu from leftovers: how saving food waste helps the planet.
Up-cycle an old t-shirt to give it a new lease of life.
Ecobrick project: learn how people around the world are turning non-recyclable plastic into useful structures – and have a go yourself.
Take our plastic-free home challenge
Get innovative and pitch an idea for a new upcycled product to help humanity cut down our waste.

Our workshops are backed by leading climate and education scientists, and are just the right blend of inspiration, information and interaction. Students who have taken part in our workshops have gone on to start their own initiatives, fundraising events and volunteering positions.

Everyone has a part to play in climate action, so it’s important to us that our workshops are accessible to everyone. We’re adapting our workshops for SEND schools, and working with our Youth Advisory Group to ensure that our activities reflect the needs of all young people. Workshops are fully funded for state schools and most youth groups, and are designed for KS3-KS5.
