FOOD FOR THOUGHT

Fully funded school & youth group workshops

Let’s show young people that they have power to tackle one of the biggest threats to our planet: the food system!

Agriculture is one of the biggest drivers of climate change and biodiversity loss. But managed right, farming and fishing can feed people and even preserve habitats and species for the future! In this workshop, we’ll look past the packaging to investigate the environmental impact of meat, air transport and palm oil. On our journey from farm to fork, we’ll inspire students to become conscious consumers and explore creative solutions to one of humanity’s biggest dilemmas: how do we feed a growing population, while protecting the planet?

BIG QUESTIONS
Industrial farming: what are the problems and solutions?
How far does food travel to reach us?
How can we consciously consume palm oil?

WORKSHOP ACTIVITIES
Food stats top trumps: which foods will win in a head to head contest of water use, emissions, fibre and protein?
Mission Design a Menu from leftovers: how saving food waste can inspire a new dish and help the planet.
Low carbon shopping list challenge: take on the weekly shop and see how swapping a few items can cut emissions.
Food miles calculator game: where have our favourite foods travelled from?
The ultimate soil sniff test: why does healthy soil matter?

Our workshops are backed by leading climate and education scientists, and are just the right blend of inspiration, information and interaction.

Students inspired by our workshops have gone on to start their own initiatives, fundraising events and volunteering positions.
