Kicking off the year of school workshops at Yeovil College

In one of our first school visits of the year, Lauren and Elli headed to Yeovil College. “We ran a stall at Yeovil College speaking to some of their really passionate students about green careers and playing some biodiversity Jenga. It was so amazing to see the young people making the real life connections with the Jenga game and we had some very tense moments trying to keep the ecosystem stable!” Lauren told me – for those not aware, biodiversity Jenga is based on the dynamics of a UK woodland. Pull out a block with a threat written on it (deforestation? Invasive species?) and you’ll find yourself playing out the consequences and trying to balance the tower with several fewer species blocks.

Lauren explained that, “It was also brilliant watching the wonderful Elli work her magic “flipping the climate script” and so fun to jump in to lead a climate myth-busting quiz with the students! We had some hugely encouraging conversations about the power of small everyday actions, celebrating every win, and the difference we’re all already making!”
