Overview – Another Way
Another Way is a charity founded by Amy Bray in 2019, when she was 16. We educate and influence those around us, inspiring all to live with kindness towards our planet.
Role headlines
Our Science Communications Lead plays a key role in ensuring Another Way uses the latest environment science to inform our communications, work and projects, and creating compelling science communications content to activate communities to take climate and nature action.
Their aim is to ensure the quality of the science communication we use through our social media, projects and communications.
Their work will be measured by engagement with our scientific content, the quality of our content and the reach of our projects.
This position reports to the CEO and works closely with the Digital Marketing Lead.
Role details
Produce and disseminate Another Way’s newsletter
- Write articles for newsletter monthly
- Send out our monthly newsletter to all recipients
- Report engagement and implement measures to improve
Manage Another Way’s website content
- Update the website regularly
- Upload Translating Science articles to the website
- Upload newsletter articles and team interviews to the website
Create scientific content and communications
- Research the latest science and environment news and assist consequent production of regular, timely content for social media channels and websites
- Assist the Digital Marketing Lead with scientific research for posts and source checking
- Assist in creating scientific content, resources and communications for projects across Another Way
- Copyreading and source checking content for our other projects
Outreach and media
- Attend science events to communicate Another Way’s work and engage the public in science activities
Translating Science
- Oversee our team of volunteers who write articles on the latest environmental science
- Be available to proofread and check that articles are scientifically accurate and engaging
Candidate requirements
- Strong personal commitment to the values and objectives of Another Way
- Demonstrable success managing social media accounts
- Knowledge, or willingness to learn, of environmental issues and solutions
- Excellent technical skills
- Excellent communication abilities and organisational skills
- Ability to manage time effectively and to manage team members
- Photography experience
About the role
- 2 days per week, allocated flexibly
- £875 per month (£26,500 p.a. full time equivalent)
- Remote working
