Tell us a bit about yourself.
As a Geographer I love the world around me, exploring places and learning about them. I have always worked with young people, sharing my passion for the environment and teaching about the impacts we have on the world. It is important to me that we spread positivity and sustainability! Outside of work, I enjoy a good walk, dipping in cold water and occasionally even a run!
What do you do with Another Way?
I am the Youth Engagement Lead. This means I work with young people across schools, youth groups and other settings to engage them in climate action. I also attend events to spread the Power of 10 message! Running workshops in schools and at events is so rewarding, seeing young people become inspired to enact change and get more involved in climate action in their local area.
Which environmental topics are you most excited about?
Developing innovative ways to help solve the climate crisis is so exciting! I love how people think differently and outside of the box to come up with solutions. One of my favourite solutions is CarbFix, being developed in Iceland, to capture carbon directly from the atmosphere and store it in basalt rocks. Whilst it isn’t going to solve the climate crisis by removing all the excess CO2 in the atmosphere, it is really interesting that basalt is the most prolific rock on earth and so in theory this technology could be applied all around the world!
What are some small steps you take to create a more sustainable lifestyle for yourself?
Second hand clothing! I love a trawl through Vinted for new to me clothes. It gives clothes a second chance of life and stops them from ending up in landfill. Hopefully in the future it can even reduce the amount of clothing made every year.
