Help Support Cornwall’s Biggest Youth Climate Festival

So often, the fight against the climate crisis can feel overwhelming and isolating for young people. That’s why bringing them together to form community is so important; through a day of learning, inspiration, connection and empowerment, we can catalyse long-term change.

We’re so excited to announce our 2025 Power of 10 Festival in Cornwall! The Power of 10 Festivals are pinnacle events in the Another Way calendar, to celebrate and elevate young voices on climate change. The first ever Power of 10 Festival took place in Cumbria in early 2024, an event which marked the largest climate-focused gathering in Cumbria’s history. We are now hosting them all over the UK, with the next taking place on Earth Day 2025 in Cornwall, at the Penryn Campus in cooperation with University of Exeter. It is an opportunity to kickstart a wave of youth-led climate and nature action across the county, giving young people the tools, support, skills and confidence to make a real difference. We ensure long-term engagement through our Power of 10 App, through which young people can connect, find peer support and access our Changemaker Helpline and resources.

POWER OF 10: A GROUNDBREAKING MOVEMENT

The Power of 10 movement, is building UK’s largest, most diverse community of engaged and resilient young climate leaders, each empowered to take meaningful, community-level action in a way that best suits their unique strengths and interests. We utilise science-based, solution-focused talks, workshops, events, a forum, festivals, youth ambassador program and accessible resources to raise awareness of environmental issues, break down barriers to climate action, and build supportive communities of changemakers.

There are two core aspects driving this project:

1. To create positive, long-term impact on the environment by combatting climate change through collective community action .

2. To ensure wellbeing, skills, confidence and leadership of young people of different backgrounds and to make community-level climate action diverse and inclusive .

We are pioneering the Power of 10 app, the first online community for young changemakers in the UK, offering a safe space with over 50 educational resources. Co-created with 250 young people, the movement has already reached over 10,000 people, led to planting over 30,000 trees, and inspired dozens of impactful initiatives and activities. As recognition of its impact, the Power of 10 was shortlisted for the Cumbria Life Best Environmental Project of the Year award in July 2024.

As we scale our work across the UK over the next two years, Cornwall has been identified as one of our priority areas for expansion in 2025.

POWER OF 10: GROWING IMPACT

Since the last Power of 10 festival…

  • we have supported and inspired the establishment of 5 new eco groups in schools
  • we collected over 2000 pledges
  • over 5000 people have heard our users give a Power of 10 presentation on climate change or ocean conservation
  • events and activities run using our resources include clothes swaps, litter picks, a plastic-free canteen campaign, tree planting and making nature spaces
  • our FactFiles have increased the knowledge of 3000 young people about issues like plastic pollution, fast fashion and behaviour change

“Power of 10 has changed my life. It has helped me excel in public speaking and gain so much knowledge about our environment. I don’t feel alone anymore, knowing there are thousands of other young people who care.” – Erin, age 16

“The benefits of some of our students being involved (we had students right across the comprehensive ability range in attendance) are a significant benefit to them socially, emotionally and culturally.” – Headteacher at Trinity School

“Another Way is doing meaningful and impactful work in raising awareness of the climate and ecological emergency. Youth-led climate action galvanises their peers, inspires younger generations, and holds older generations to account. Another Way is a fantastic example of how this can be done with kindness, integrity, and clarity.” – Professor Mike Berners-Lee, University of Lancaster

POWER OF 10 FESTIVAL: YOUR SUPPORT MATTERS

…for the community: We will bring together 250 young people and teachers from at least 10 schools across Cornwall for a day of climate and nature learning and action.

…for the empowerment: Through talks, workshops and fun activities, young people will find their climate ‘superpower’ and be inspired and supported to start their own projects.

..for the connections: A marketplace of stalls will link young people to local and national opportunities, and a collaborative session will link schools, young people and teachers together for a shared campaign.

Do you remember our Power of 10 philosophy? Small, individual actions can lead to great changes when multiplied. Be the one person to support us and encourage 10 others to do so. If those 10 do the same, we will all be a part of the community building more sustainable future.
