This week we are excited to be able to announce the winners of the Design a Daffodil competition. This has given an opportunity to young people at both a local and national level to be a part of this amazing charity fundraising project and has hopefully encouraged them to think creatively about nature and the environment.
We were over the moon to receive well over a hundred entries from schools, Brownie packs and youth groups. Judges Andrea Brunsendorf, Head Gardener at Lowther, and Alan McViety, High Sheriff of Cumbria had an extremely difficult task in choosing the winners. Shown here are the winning entries in the 5-10 and 11-16 categories together with runners up/ Highly Commended.
5-10 Winner Matilda aged 7 from Greystoke Brownies. Highly Commended Hannah aged 10 from Morland C of E Primary School
11-16 Winner Nia aged 11 Morland Primary School. Highly Commended Christian aged 11 Morland Primary School
Well done to our winners – we are sure you will agree their designs are simply amazing and Helen can’t wait to create the glaze on the giant daffodil heads. Keep an eye out for more details of the online auction taking place in late June run by leading auctioneers H & H Auction Rooms.
